Bolton 0 United 5
United made the short trip to the Reebok stadium on Saturday and enjoyed another goalscoring romp against a poor but overly physical Bolton side. Tormentor's in chief where the United front line pair of Hernandez and Rooney, the latter helping himself to his second successive hatrick.
United got off to a flyer in the 5th minute when superb movement by Hernandez saw him get in ahead of his marker and finish smartly from a right wing cross by Nani to make it 1-0. United soon doubled the advantage on 20mins when another right wing cross by the outstanding Jones was helped into the net by the lurking Rooney.
Things got even better for the Reds on 25mins when after a marauding run from United new boy Jones
resulted in a third for United and a second for the in form Rooney. Second half turned into a stroll for this exciting United team and it was no suprise when they added a fourth on 58 mins, a deflected Carrick shot fell to the ever alert Hernandez and the "little pea" made no mistake to complete his brace.
Rooney duly completed another hat-trick on 68 for the fifth. A raking cross-field pass by Giggs found Nani, who rolled it across the area for Rooney to fire into the bottom right hand corner. Job done!
Another great day for the Reds, more goals and some exceptional football played. Downside was the foot injury to young Tom Cleverly. Next up are Benfica in Lisbon.
United team, 1 De Gea, 4 Jones, 5 ferdinand, 6 Evans(Smalling 61), 3 Evra, 17 Nani, 23 Cleverly(Carrick 24) 8 Anderson, 18 Young(Giggs 60) 14 Hernandez, 10 Rooney.

ARSENAL AT HOME
UNITED 8 ARSENAL 2
An incredible day at Old Trafford saw United inflict hammering of seismic proportions on a ragged looking Arsenal side.
Danny Welbeck got the ball rolling 28 min min, nipping in and heading the ball past the Arsenal 'keeper as the defence dithered.Arsenal had a golden chance to get back on terms after a harsh penalty was awarded after United defender Jonny Evans was adjudged to tug walcott back in the area
Robin Van Persie took on the responsibility but his tame effort was kept out by De Gea.Ashley Young proceeded to rub salt into the wounds by curling a magnificent effort in the top right hand corner of the Arsenal goal in the 28th min.things got a whole lot worse for Arsenal when Rooney curled an wicked free kick past a helpless Szczesny on 41mins.Arsenal's Theo Walcott managed to sneak one under David De Gea's legs on the stroke of halftime to give Arsenal a glimmer of hope.
.
The second half started with renewed vigour from Arsenal; a combination of that plus some sloppy play from United saw them go close a couple of times, Van Persie and Arshavin going close for the visitors.
The match ended as a serious contest in the 64th min as Rooney repeated his free kick heroics with a whipping effort into the far right corner, becoming Uniteds all time record premier league goalscorer in the process.
United where rampant now, attacking in waves as an inexperienced Arsenal crumbled in front of an ashen faced Arsene Wenger. The fifth goal came as no suprise,Rooney finding Nani in acres of space in the box and finishing with an exquisite chip over the on rushing goalkeeper Things took on nightmarish proportions for Arsenal now, substitute Park Ji Sung slotting home his usual goal against the Gunners to make it 6-1.
Further humiliation ensued for Arsenal as Rooney completed his hatrick from the penalty spot after Evra was tripped by walcott.Van Persie fired in a consolation goal in 74 after United failed to clear, but the last word went to Ashley Young as he collected the ball on the corner of the box and rifled in a magnificent shot on 90 mins to make it an incredible 8-2.
Plus points today apart from the obvious where the all round display and the continued improvement of the new player's.and the performance of the young kids,Cleverley in particular having a fine game.
International football take's centre stage now,United are back in action away at Bolton in a fortnight, bring it on!
Cheers.

SPURS AT HOME
22 aug 2011 UNITED 3 SPURS 0
Spurs rolled into Old Trafford as Manchester United got their Premier League home
campaign up and running with a deserved 3-0 victory.
Both teams where evenly matched in an open and entertaining first half, marked by a wonderful save from Friedel from a Cleverly effort and some long range shooting by Spurs Dutch midfielder Van Der Vaart. United finally opened the scoring on 61 mins thanks to a fabulous header by Danny Welbeck
from an exquiste cross by young Tom Cleverly. It was no contest after that with a new look youthful United team play some truly great stuff as Fergie looked on approvingly.
United where bossing the game now,and it was no suprise when the second goal came courtesy of our brazilian midfielder Anderson in the 76 min. A great move involving an outrageous back flick from Welbeck, and hammered home by Ando.
Spurs nearly got one back when a Defoe effort crashed of the upright, but never threatened after that.
The third goal came in the 87th min from a Wayne Rooney header after good work from the shagmeister himself Giggs.
All in all a good day at the office;the new players continue to impress, and some of the football was brilliant.
Next sunday at OT will see us host a team called "crisis",managed by someone called "Beleaguered",
Arsenal in other words.cheers!.

West Brom away
WEST BROMWICH ALBION 1 scorer: Long (37)
MANCHESTER UNITED 2 scorer: Rooney (13)
scorer: Reid (81 o.g.)
Tough game for United today, never easy to go to the hawthorns and get a win.
I can imagine a few teams dropping points there over the course of a season.
United looked in fine fettle during the opening exchanges and took a well deserved
lead on 13 mins, courtesy of a fine goal by Wazza,
United had a couple of chances to go further ahead, but Nani annoyingly wasteful in front of goal.
then out of the blue a west brom equalizer from young debutant shane long, the Irishmans long range effort aided by poor goalkeeping by Uniteds young 'keeper.Second half was notable for a listless performance by the reds, not creating much in the way of chances. Only ashley Young posing any kind of threat. So it was a relief to see him fashion a late winner by way of an o.g. of the luckless Reid,
so three points are gratefully recieved and we move on,some plus points where the performance of Tom cleverly and Ashley young,Smalling to had a solid afternoon.the low points are the injuries to Vida and Rio,plus the confidence of young goalkeeper David De Gea must be low,but im sure he will overcome any jitters, the lad is class.Spurs up next at Old Trafford monday week, always a good game, cheers.
